Dirt Bike Gear for Kids

Dirt Bikes For 9 Year Olds

Dirt bike riding can be a great activity for children, but it can also be dangerous. Dirt bike gear is essential for kids, as they are more prone to injury, so be sure to pick up the right equipment!

The main gear that every dirt biking child should have includes: a helmet, goggles, boots, a chest protector, knee pads, elbow pads, gloves and maybe even a neck brace. Special dirt biking pants and jackets are also a good idea.

1. Kids Helmet

Most people know this, but a helmet is the most important piece of safety gear, especially for kids. Youth helmets come in a variety or colors, styles, and brands. Verify that any helmet you purchase is DOT-approved in order to check its quality.

2. Youth Boots

Youth dirt biking boots are undeniably a required piece of gear. Youth boots help to provide protection for kids’ feet and lower leg area in the case that they stick their foot out and hit it on the ground. Limping around is never fun, so take care of your feet and ankles.

3. Elbow Pads & Knee Pads

Both youth elbow pads and youth knee pads provide necessary shielding. Shattering an elbow or knee cap is not a pleasant experience, so never forget to always use knee pads and elbow pads. Simply putting on a few pads can go a long way.

4. Youth Goggles

Our eyes are a very important body part, so treat them that way. Youth goggles will prevent dust, debris, and any other hazard from harming the eyes and area around the eyes. Keep your vision by adding goggles to your dirt biking equipment.

5. Chest Protector

While some might see this as overkill, a chest pad can protect the shoulders, chest, and upper back. In the event of a fall, you will be very glad that you are wearing a chest protector – it will take the brunt of the force and save your upper body.

6. Gloves

Constantly holding onto handlebars will do a number on your hands and fingers. Blisters, scrapes, and other uncomfortable injuries might occur. A simple way to combat this is to grab a pair a dirt biking gloves.

7. Jacket and Pants

Special motocross dirt bike riding pants and jackets offer superior protection all around your body. This will surround your skin with a layer of material to help prevent injuries. While they are helpful, if you have a smaller budget, they are not essential. Instead, one could wear a thick pair of jeans and a jacket or thick shirt.

8. Neck Brace

A neck brace can in fact be uncomfortable, but it is an extra safety step you can take if you feel that it’s necessary. Extra neck support helps to prevent any serious injuries.

Dirt Bike Gear for Kids

All the different types of dirt biking gear can be bought in youth sizes. This is ideal for things like helmets and boots because adult sized equipment will not give children adequate protection. As previously mentioned, both dirt biking and ATVing can be excellent youth activities, given that they wear the appropriate dirt bike gear.
